Maeshowe Collection

This version of the dragon was created by our master craftsman, Steven Cooper. The original 'dragon' was carved in the 12th century, by a Viking invader, on the walls of the ancinet chambered burial cairn at Maeshowe. This Neolithic tomb dates from 2750 BC and is the most splendid of its kind in Orkney. It is thought that these cairns were used for rituals as well as burials.
